    Initial Management of Chronic Knee & Shoulder Conditions

    • fracture dislocation
    • Activity modifications
    • Early Physical Therapy
    • Anti-inflammatories

    Activity Modifications

    • Avoid aggravating activities
    • Light Duty x 6 weeks (Form
    • Need re-eval in 30 days
    • Maintain all other activities
    • Deskwork
    • Do not prescribe bedrest

    Activity Modifications

    Stiffness + Joint = VERY BAD

    If you prescribe a sling or a brace that restricts motion, advise the patient to use it for only 1-2 days then remove.

    Not just "Range of Motion & Strengthening"

    ultrasound, phonophoresis

    Joint mobilizations

    stretching, massage

    Patient education
