Operational Medicine Medical Education and Training

Teaching Orthopedics on the Run

This video was produced by the U.S. Naval School of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland, in 2001.

This video presents several scenarios in the orthopedic clinic to illustrate useful strategies for the teaching of orthopedics "on the run" in an effective and time-efficient way. Four scenarios are demonstrated:

  • Activities preceding the opening of the clinic for the day.
  • Teaching in the Attending's Examination Room, when the resident is called in.
  • Teaching in the Resident's Examination Room, when the atending is called in.
  • Discussions outside the exam room to address "lessons learned" and provide resident feedback for the day.
