Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology

Instructions

This manual can be viewed in three formats. The most complete is the digitalized format found on the compact disc, over the internet or from other electronic sources. It was designed for use with Microsoft Windows 95, 98 or NT, with a Pentium processor or it's equivalent and a video screen of at least 800 x 600 pixels. The electronic form may give satisfactory results with other configurations as well.

Use the Navigation Bar to the left of the screen to move through this electronic version of Operational Obstetrics & Gynecology. Selecting "Home" will always bring you back to the home page.

It is not necessary to install the CD. This program runs directly off the CD drive. However, it requires the presence of several programs on the computer for optimum functioning. These include:

  • An Internet browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 or above, or Netscape Navigator of the equivalent version
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Media Player (included with Windows 95, 98 or NT).

Using the mouse to click on a picture will magnify it. Clicking the "return" or "go back" arrow will return you to the previous image.

Clicking on an underlined, colored word or phrase will link you to more information on that topic.

You may obtain a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader from the Adobe Internet site:

Sometimes, a particular brand named product is mentioned in this text. This is usually for clarity and simplicity but should not be construed as representing an endorsement, by the Navy or the Department of Defense, of that particular brand named product.

This manual is designed to assist those who treat women with gynecologic problems and offer guidance for the continuing care of these women, particularly in isolated settings where gynecologic consultation is not readily available.

The manual is not all-inclusive and is not intended to replace good clinical judgment nor in-depth textbooks, which should be consulted whenever appropriate.

As in most areas of medicine, there may be more than one way to deal with any particular gynecologic problem. For simplicity, one basic approach is usually given here. There are often other approaches that will give very good or superior results
