Unknown Lesion of the Vulva: Does it look like any of these?
|
A Bartholin cyst is a painless swelling on one side. |
A Bartholin abscess is very tender, unilateral, with swelling and redness. |
Primary syphilis is a painless, wet ulcer with swelling around it. |
Secondary syphilis have multiple moist lesions |
|
Herpes start off as 1-2 mm blisters, which then break open, leaving painful ulcers. |
|
Vulvar Intraepithelial Neoplasia (VIN III) gives a focal, white lesion. |
A vulvar hematoma, seen here in the patient's left labia majora, is extremely painful. |
|
Monilia (yeast, candida) of the vulva is an itchy red rash. |
Lichen sclerosis gives a white discoloration with loss of anatomic detail. |
Molluscom contagiosum are painless, raised lesions of 1-2 mm, with a central dimple. |
An inclusion cyst is a painless cyst at the opening of the vagina. |

Chancroid has an irregular, wet ulcer. |
Tinea Cruris provides a raised, red, intensely itchy rash. |
Hypertrophic vulvar dystrophy gives a diffuse, itchy, white lesion. |
Condylomas (venereal warts) are small, painless, couliflower-like growths. |

Vulvar abcess is yense and painful. |
|
Melanosis has multiple, flat, asymptomatic lesions. |
Vulvar cancer is an erosive, friable lesion. |
|
Vulvar vestibulitis causes painful intercourse. |
Runner's rash is a painful abrasion. |
